Parent Visa (Subclass 103) Requirements:

  1. Parental Relationship: To apply for the Parent Visa (subclass 103), you must have a child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. The sponsoring child must be settled in Australia, meaning they have been living in Australia lawfully for at least 2 years.

  2. Age: There is no age limit for applicants of the Parent Visa (subclass 103).

  3. Health and Character: You and your family members included in the application must meet health and character requirements. This may include providing police clearance certificates and undergoing medical examinations.

  4. Balance of Family Test: At least half of your children must be living in Australia as citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens, or more of your children must be living in Australia than in any other single country.

  5. Assurance of Support: You may need to provide an Assurance of Support, which is a legal commitment from a sponsor to provide financial support to the visa holder and any family members included in the application for up to 10 years.

  6. Parent Visa (Subclass 103) Application: You must apply for the Parent Visa (subclass 103) from outside Australia. Once granted, this visa allows parents to live in Australia as permanent residents.

Permanent Residency (PR) Visa for Parents Requirements:

  1. Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143): This visa allows parents to live in Australia permanently if their child is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. It requires a higher visa application charge compared to the Parent Visa (subclass 103) and has a faster processing time.

  2. Age: There is no age limit for applicants of the Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143).

  3. Health and Character: Applicants and their family members included in the application must meet health and character requirements.

  4. Financial Support: Applicants may need to provide evidence of financial support or obtain an Assurance of Support from a sponsor.

  5. Permanent Residency Application: Like the Parent Visa (subclass 103), the Contributory Parent Visa (Subclass 143) must be applied for from outside Australia. Once granted, it allows parents to live in Australia as permanent residents.
